Do you collect tin containers or tin baskets? From holiday candies to old soup cans, tin has been widely used over the centuries to store things. Vintage tin containers range from coffee and tea tins to novelty tin wastebaskets and simple vintage tin storage baskets.
Tin has been used for millenia, every since Late Stone Age cultures discovered that mixing a small amount with molten copper produced bronze. It has been used to coat lead or steel for storing food and liquids. And that beautiful burnished silver metal we call "pewter" is about 85-90 percent tin with the addition of copper, antimony, and lead.
All that is to say, tin containers and tin baskets are light, generally sturdy, and they can be decorated with a variety of patterns and colors, making them useful for a huge selection of storage and transport needs.
